Learn how to find, finance and grow a hugely successful pub
“I want to run my own pub, but I don’t know where to start or how to get the best deal!”
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to help hundreds of people start running their own pub. I’ve created articles, answered emails and had spoken with people desperately trying to get off to a good start in the pub game. But I kept hearing one thing again and again.
What's the next step for us?
You know you want to run your own pub, but you want step by step guidance on getting up and running.
You know the pub game is a big commitment, both financially and personally, but you’re prepared to make that commitment. You want to give it 100% to make a success of your pub.
You also know that it’s very easy to make the wrong decision and sign up to a bad deal. We’ve all heard the horror stories, people being treated horrendously by the pubcos and breweries, losing their life's savings in the process.
There’s a common thread amongst all of this, if only we’d known. People walk into these deals without knowing what they’re getting themselves into. It doesn’t have to be this way…
Imagine having the confidence of a pub landlord veteran even if you've never run a pub!
Finding the right pub gets easier, when you know how to assess business potential. Imagine knowing you're signing up to the best deal, the kind of deal that gives you a great chance of success.
Imagine knowing how to get the best price for the rent and beer (over 60% of your outgoings can go to these two alone). You can focus on building your business and making your dream a reality. Best of all...
By going through the Pub Landlord Advisor Academy you'll know when to walk away! Sometimes the breweries and pubcos make it impossible to turn a profit, sounds crazy, right? But...
The unwary novice won't see the hidden costs and, by the time they realise, it's too late. The deal is signed, the down payment is handed over, and now the struggle begins. If only you'd known...
The PLAA will give you all the knowledge necessary to recognise a good deal and when it's time to walk away from a bad one.
You’ve told me what you want and I’ve listened. I’ve written down, and recorded, every tip, trick and technique to show you how I got off to a great start in every pub I’ve run.
As always, I’ve made it super simple for you to follow so that, you’ll have the right information at the right time in your journey.
The Pub Landlord Academy is designed to take a total novice on the journey to expertise. The course is designed to give you the right information at just the right time, removing the guesswork from all stages of your pub landlord career.
We’ve broken it down into 3 sections:
1. Buying a pub
In this module you'll learn about the different options for running a pub: tenancy, leasehold and freehold. Once you understand the ups and downs of each option we'll look at how to finance the ownership of your pub. It's important to get this right, to have the cash flow to make your pub a success.
Now that you know the type of pub ownership to go for and you've got some ideas around financing, it's time to move on to finding and assessing a pub for business potential. We'll take you through the process of writing a business plan, based on the real potential of your pub.
Next up, we'll talk about negotiating the deal. It seems obvious to say it but the success of your pub hinges on negotiating a great deal. We'll let you in on the secrets we've discovered over the years. The kind of things the breweries and pubcos would rather you didn't know.
2. Running your pub
In this module you'll learn everything you need to run a successful pub. We'll start off with your legal obligations, taking you through the licensing laws and how they are applied when running your pub.
Successful pubs have one thing in common: a great atmosphere. A great atmosphere starts and ends with the staff. That's why we focus heavily on finding and training the right staff for your pub. We'll also go into detail on the do's and don'ts of customer service.
To finish up this module we'll take you through a daily, weekly and monthly routine for running your pub. By the end of this section you'll know how to turn a pub into a well oiled machine, so that you can focus on the interesting stuff: growing your business.
3. Growing your pub business
In this module we'll show you how to go from running your pub to growing the business. We'll look at both online and offline marketing and how they both play together to advertise your business to the local community.
You'll see how to create a sales pipeline, turning a first time visitor into a repeat customer. You'll get a clear understanding of how to maximise your profit by keeping overheads low whilst increasing the average spend per customer.
We'll also show you how to get the most out of every inch of your pub by making it available for people to host events. We'll provide tips for ensuring events are a huge success, so that you get repeat customers.
The Pub Landlord Advisor Academy isn't right for everyone so, to make sure we are a good fit you'll be sent an application form. The form contains questions which identify where you are in your pub landlord career and how committed you are to owning a pub.
